What the two-page download contains

A little party wordplay contains 15 party-themed scrambled words on page one and a separate host answer key on page two. A4 and US Letter versions contain identical puzzles. Download only the version matching your paper. This short activity can work for approximately 2–12 people, with a suggested 5–10 minute window. Actual time varies with familiarity, language and whether people solve alone or together.

The theme includes familiar gathering words such as music, guests and decorations rather than specialist trivia. Players rearrange the letters in each line to form a word associated with a gathering. All letters must be used exactly once. The answer page makes checking straightforward, but keep it separate from the player copies if you want an unrevealed puzzle.

Print player sheets without revealing the key

Open the PDF and inspect both pages before printing. Select page one only for each player or team. Print one copy of page two for the person checking answers, or keep that page closed on a device until the round ends. Printing the complete two-page file for every player gives away the answers, so check the page range before starting a larger print job.

Provide a pen or pencil per player, or one per team if they will work collaboratively. A timer is optional. Clear a small writing area away from plates and drinks. If the host would like to solve too, avoid studying the key first and ask another person to check responses after the round. There is no need to cut the sheets or prepare additional clues.

Explain the rule with a practice example

Before revealing the actual sheet, demonstrate with a separate example: the letters “KACE” can become “CAKE.” Explain that adding a letter, leaving a letter unused or changing a letter does not count. The answer should use the printed letters, not merely relate to a party. This practice example is guidance for the rules and is not an extra item in the 15-puzzle pack.

Give out the sheets face down if starting everyone together. Announce whether players may work with a partner, use outside help or ask for hints before they turn the pages over. For a simple friendly competition, use five minutes and no outside lookup. For a relaxed table activity, remove the timer and let people compare ideas as they go.

Use a clear scoring method

In the standard competitive version, award one point for each correct answer, for a maximum of fifteen. Check each response against the host key. The printed rules also permit a different valid word when it uses exactly the same letters; if someone proposes one, compare letter counts carefully and apply that rule consistently. Do not introduce a new spelling or hint penalty halfway through the round.

If two players or teams share the highest score, a joint win is the simplest finish. You can instead agree in advance that the earliest completed fully correct sheet wins, but this requires recording completion times fairly. Avoid judging a tie by handwriting or by which answer sheet the host happens to check first. Announce the chosen method before starting.

Offer useful hints and inclusive variations

For an untimed group solve, let everyone suggest a word and check its letters together. A facilitator can offer the first letter of an unresolved answer or describe its meaning, using the key privately. If you introduce hints during a scored game, give the same hint to all players and decide beforehand whether assisted answers still receive a point. This avoids rewarding only the people sitting closest to the host.

With mixed confidence in English, form cooperative pairs and make the objective completing the sheet rather than beating other players. Read the directions aloud and allow extra time. A word scramble involves spelling and visual letter manipulation, so offer a different way to join the gathering to anyone who finds that uncomfortable. Participation does not need to be compulsory for the table to enjoy the game.

Check answers and finish without dragging it out

At the end, ask players to put pens down if using a timer, then read the answers in numbered order. Let people mark their own sheets for an informal round or exchange sheets only with agreement. Check disputed letter combinations against the printed puzzle and key. Do not require everyone to announce their score; inviting the highest totals or simply revealing the solutions is enough.

Print portrait and single-sided at actual size with the correct A4 or Letter setting. Test one sheet for complete margins and readable writing lines before making copies. The berry, orange and teal design remains usable in grayscale because solving does not depend on color. Keep the answer page with your host materials, and share this article link rather than redistributing the PDF files. Personal gatherings and internal group use are permitted.
